Let's hear it for the boy!

Thu Feb 8, 2007, 3:15 AM
Let's give the boy a haaaaaaaaand.

I was watching Max and Paddy last night and got that stuck in my head.

So I'm having a good day so far, and it's only 10am. I got a phone call about an hour and a half ago from a nice lady i work with called Jan who said that the college was shut and I didn't have to go to work today! And, I do believe I'm getting paid for not working, too. So today is looking bright.

Also... It's SNOWING! It's absolutely beautiful out. Really, really gorgeous. The snow is like, 6 inches thick (which is nothing, essentially, but it's still beautiful).

Isn't it strange how everything stops in England when it snows? Like, the schools and stuff are all closed, and people don't want to leave their houses and stuff. I went to tescos earlier and there were (I'm not kidding) about 12 people there. And the lady behind the till thought I was absolutely crazy to be out in the snow. But it's not even cold. I didn't even wear gloves!

When we were in Finland this time last year, and it was -17, nothing stopped. Kids weren't in school because it was a holiday, but the previous week (when it had been -20) most of the schools were open. All the shops were open, and people were out in the snow. We even took a boat over to Estonia. We sailed on ice! We could have gone down like the titanic. And Estonia was even colder. The snow came up to my knees, and sometimes it was deeper.

But I'm not complaining, cos I have the day off. There are kids in the street on sleds. It's so magical. And it's all even more amazing because today was my penultimate day of work before I get a week off! A whole week! Tomorrow is my last day, and I kind of hope the college is open, because Fridays are one of my favourite days for work. But I'd still be happy if it were shut. I could have a lay in.

Maybe he's no romeo, but he's my lovin' one man show, whoa whoa whoa whoa, Let's hear it for the Boy!

I seriously can't get that out of my head!

I'm going now. I hope you're all having fun. I hope the snow is thick, and you can go and make snow angels, and junk like that.

omg! im totally reading the same book as you!! i just finished it actually, what do you think of it? hehe snow, i love snow, i must confess though i have become one of those people who see the smallest amount of snow and never venture out of the house for the rest of the day! although i am extremely ill at the moment, i mean seriously on my death bed, its a wonder i even have the energy to type! so i think i can be excused for not getting my butt all wet and snow up my trouser legs making snow angels.

Yes, I'd say you are excused, but only if you're ill. Otherwise there is no excuse, except that you're getting old.
About the book, yeah I'm enjoying it. Not finished it yet. I just had a week off so i did absolutely no reading, although I have been stuck in the house all week as I've got a small fracture in my foot. Bah, humbug.

It's a really funny story actually... I have no idea! I don't even remember the pain actually starting, it just sort of came on gradually until I couldn't walk and had to go to the hospital. I do have crutches, though, which is awfully cool.
